Interview conducted by Alan Cherry as part of the LDS Afro-American Oral History Project of the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies at Brigham Young University on 15 March 1988. Harris talks of growing up in Bowling Green, Missouri, of his hatred for white people, and of segregation. He tells of his military experiences in Europe, his views on religion, his conversion to the Mormon Church, and its impact on his present life. He discussses his courtship and marriage and comments on his feelings of acceptance as a Mormon.
